Analytical Chemist

Description: 

The Analytical Chemist tests the chemical components of inks, dyes, and coatings.  He or she analyzes and documents these components’ effects on properties such as color, rheology, abrasion, durability, viscosity, etc. The incumbent will also perform testing of the components that are used in adhesives, refractory, batteries, plastics, and other products.  

 

 Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry or other physical science with two years of coatings or printing/ink lab experience in an industrial chemical laboratory is strongly preferred.    
  •  At least 10 years of experience in coatings or ink industrial chemical laboratory may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of coatings and/or printing systems formulations, applications, pigment grinding process, and standard tests done in the coatings and printing industries is a significant advantage.
  • Proficiency in English and the ability to write reports, memoranda, and to compose other technical documents is required. 
  • Assists Quality Manager with administrative functions and ensuring proper training and utilization of laboratory technicians.
