Maintenance Technician

Description: 

The Maintenance Technician performs tasks that are essential to the reliable operation of the equipment, machinery, and infrastructure that are used to manufacture carbon black

 

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment that is used to support the production process. 
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain an organized work area to ensure tools, parts, and materials are stored in a neat and orderly manner to improve efficiency.
  • Suggest improvements and changes that will reduce downtime and increase reliability.  
  • Maintain documentation as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate degree from a technical college is preferred; completion of an apprenticeship may be substituted for the degree.  A journeyman certification is preferred. 
  • Solid understanding of how pumps, motors, blowers, gearboxes, compressors and other types of rotating equipment operate. 
  • The ability to read and understand P&IDs, blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics is required. 
  • The ability to lift up to 50lbs regularly; over 50lbs with assistance is required. 
  • Willing to work in environments for prolonged periods that are hot, dusty, noisy and that require the use of PPE.    
  • Successful completion of pre-employment testing, including hands-on welding demonstration and paper and pencil is required.
