As a Senior Inhouse Cloud Architect AWS - Chemical Industry (m/f/d), you will take on a role with global interfaces across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. Sometimes, this may mean working in different time zones to keep up with the music!

With your expertise and agile mindset, help us move forward! Here’s more about this exciting role:

The job that will make you happy:

  • The core of your role is global responsibility for our cloud roadmap. You’ll plan, organize, execute, and continuously monitor various initiatives and projects. You’ll analyze the current and target states, ensuring your architectural designs meet current and future requirements for critical cloud applications and digitization initiatives.
  • As Product Owner, you will set up and manage the company-wide cloud platform, data centers, and edge computing solutions for all Orion locations – integrating computing resources and workloads to enable agile IT and digital transformation.
  • You will design, enable, and implement solutions that utilize the latest cloud trends and innovations – such as AWS, Edge Computing, connectivity, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
  • A key part of your role will be networking within the organization, engaging with interfaces, stakeholders, and regular IT operations. You’ll act as the subject matter expert and escalation point for all cloud products.
  • You will also take on budget responsibility for this segment, using foresight to evaluate new providers, technologies, and products through proof-of-values and monitoring service quality and performance.
  • In this role, you will work according to ITIL-based service management processes, utilizing relevant tools and best practices, including service request, incident, change, problem, and knowledge management processes.
  • You will provide transparent status updates, deliver project reports, and key performance indicators, and maintain documentation for IT services and products, including business cases, requirements, design specifications, architecture and design diagrams, roadmaps, etc.

The profile that makes us happy:

  • You have a solid educational background with a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. You’ve also gained several years of practical experience in Cloud & Data Center environments, ideally within the (chemical) industry or manufacturing sector.
  • During this time, you’ve also had the opportunity to earn AWS or TOGAF certifications and have completed project management training (e.g., SCRUM, Lean, PMI, Prince2).
  • You are strong in designing and overseeing the development of complex technological solution architectures spanning Edge Computing, data centers, and the cloud. You possess expert knowledge of operating systems, including Linux and Windows.
  • Strong knowledge in serverless computing, enterprise integration, and API management is important to us, as is a good understanding of programming, continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), networks, and application architecture. Additionally, knowledge of programming languages and scripting (R, Python, Java, C#, PowerShell) is beneficial.
  • This role requires a high degree of autonomy, attention to detail, and excellent time management. We want you to be visible within the Orion organization, with the potential to lead 1-2 employees both technically and disciplinarily in the future.
  • Our collaboration is built on trust, flexibility, and the assurance that things will run smoothly and continue to develop.
  • The corporate language in the global Orion network is English, and occasional travel may be required, though it will be moderate.
