Instrumentation and Electrical Technician (I)

 

The Instrumentation and Electronics (I&E) Technician repairs and installs process control instrumentation, electrical equipment, and electronic devices. This is a union facility that offers starting pay of approximately $51.27 per hour plus vacation, medical, dental, optical, and life insurance, effective on the date of hire.  The workplace is located in Franklin, approximately 35 miles south of Lafayette, LA.

 

Essential Duties:  

  • The I&E Technician (I) is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all electrical and instrumentation systems for the facility in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
  • Leads and performs preventive and corrective I&E technical services on all instrumentation, controls, and electrical equipment such as: transmitters (level, temp, etc.), controllers, motor starters, actuators, valves, indicators, switches, and gas equipment, etc.
  • Repair and calibrate various measurement devices such as pressure meters, flow meters (liquid and gas), flame eyes, and repair control valves and regulators.
  • Read and be able to interpret P&ID’s, and pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge on lock-out/tag-out, hot work, and confined space.
  • Communicate with other departments including operations, lab, and shipping.
  • Trouble shoots breakdowns, diagnoses faults, and executes repairs.
  • Configures, installs, and commissions new instruments and controllers. Ensures they are installed and maintained in a manner consistent with industry standards.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in DCS programming, preferably experience with Delta V.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming.
  • Maintain required documentation and records.

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • An associate degree in industrial electronics or a related field is strongly preferred for this position.  Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
  • For degreed candidates, a minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred; new graduates who have completed an internship may be considered.   
  • For non-degreed candidates, a minimum of five years of experience as an I&E technician in a related field is required.  Experience in the Armed Forces in an equivalent role may count toward this experience requirement. 
  • The ability to use SAP is a plus. 
  • The successful candidate must be able to successfully complete pre-employment testing.
