Maintenance Coordinator

Description: 

The Maintenance Coordinator ensures that the tasks required to repair and maintain the equipment used in the production process are performed efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.  He or she plays a key role in maximizing equipment reliability and uptime. 

 

Essential Duties:  

  • Plan and schedule routine and planned maintenance work; lead response to unplanned or emergency repairs.
  • Ensure that the parts, tools, labor, and other resources required to complete maintenance tasks are available when needed. 
  • Work with the corporate turnaround manager to plan maintenance shutdowns and turnarounds. 
  • Maintain the site’s PM program for all new and existing equipment.
  • Generate purchase orders for goods and services required for the operation of the maintenance department.
  • Collaborate with Orion procurement representatives to ensure the proper procedures are followed for acquisition of services and materials and documented accordingly.
  • Ensure that contractors comply with permitting and site EHS policies and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement with respect to KPIs; stay informed of changes in technology, evaluate new products and processes for their potential applicability to plant operations. 

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • A high school diploma is required for this position.  A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is a plus.    
  • For candidates with a high school diploma, this position requires at least five years of experience as a maintenance planner or scheduler at a chemical plant, refinery, mine, or heavy manufacturing.
  • New graduates with an engineering degree who wish to move into a position as a reliability or project engineer will also be considered. 
  • Familiarity with SAP procurement and scheduling modules, or the ability to become proficient in their use, is required. 
  • The ability to build productive working relationships with technicians, vendors, production personnel, and corporate representatives is very important. 
  • A solid understanding of pumps, hydraulic systems, blowers, refractories, electrical systems, and conveying equipment is essential for success in this role.
  • Experience working in a union shop is plus.
