Production Coordinator

Description: 

The Production Coordinator acts as liaison between the production supervisors, engineers, and production manager to increase operating efficiency in the short to mid-term.  This is a supervisory position, assigned to day shift, Monday through Friday.    

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Lead shift supervisors and operators, including staffing, work priorities, performance, accountability, and training.
  • Work with Process Engineering to identify, develop, and implement process improvements.
  • Develop, update, and implement operating procedures; train personnel, audit compliance, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive closure of safety, audit, production, and corrective-action items.
  • Provide operational leadership during startups, shutdowns, process upsets, and other critical events, including off-hours support when required.
  • Provide temporary Shift Supervisor coverage during extended absences or vacancies when needed.
  • Monitor plant equipment, processes, and operating conditions; coordinate with Engineering and Maintenance to troubleshoot issues and improve reliability, efficiency, and manufacturing capability.
  • Recommend capital projects, equipment upgrades, and other improvements to reduce cost, improve efficiency, or increase production capability.
  • Participate in HAZOPs, MOCs, process safety reviews, incident investigations, and other EHS and continuous-improvement activities.

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

 

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred; a combination of education and experience as detailed below may be substituted for the degree requirement.   
  • At least three years of supervisory experience is required; this experience may have been acquired in the military or industry. 
  • At least two years of experience working with distributed control systems (DCS) is a strong plus; the selected candidate must learn to operate the DCS.  
  • Strong operational aptitude and knowledge of industrial chemicals, pumps, compressors, blowers, dryers, mixers, kilns, high-temperature vessels, and other types of equipment.  
  • Familiarity with the operation of turbines, generators, and high-pressure steam boilers is a strong plus.  
  • Good communication (written and oral) skills, along with ability to use Microsoft Office products. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Experience with administering and interpreting a collective bargaining agreement is a plus, where a labor union is present.
