Quality Manager
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Quality laboratory processes and personnel, including hiring, disciplining, performance evaluation, training, and development.
- Ensure that quality testing is done that adheres to Orion’s standard practices, procedures and controls. Align quality testing and standards of practice with Orion global quality and with other Orion plants as applicable.
- Approve and release final products for shipment to customers.
- Maintain safe working conditions within the laboratory and other work areas; ensure compliance with all safety and environmental related policies, procedures, regulations, and rules.
- Lead the site quality management system to ensure compliance with the ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and RC 14001 management systems standard and complying to Orion global management system requirements. This includes planning and leading management system documentation, training, audits, and continual improvement. This also includes complying with Orion required testing procedures, metrology and standard testing compliance.
- Lead the plant activities in managing and completing root cause analysis and corrective action for product and system non-conformances which come from customer complaints, internal issues, supplier problems and any other sources of non-conformities.
- Lead the plant activities in identifying opportunities for quality improvement and engaging appropriate Orion personnel to engage in improvement activities. This includes monitoring product quality trends and compliance with established specifications and ensuring essential quality assurance measures are being completed.
- Ensuring the laboratory and the laboratory equipment is well maintained, conforms to Orion housekeeping standards and performs to established quality expectations.
- Report and manage quality related data including specific test results, KPI measures and site defined performance metrics.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree is required for this position. A degree in a technical discipline is strongly preferred; a focus on chemistry, supply chain, or engineering would be a significant advantage.
- Three to five years of experience in quality assurance are required; some of this experience may have been acquired at a chemical or petrochemical producer, pharmaceutical manufacturer, or oil and gas.
- Supervisory experience is strongly desired; experience in a union shop is an advantage.
- Skills in SAP are required for success in this role, Ability to learn and master the quality related SAP transaction requirements.
- Previous experience in implementing and managing IATF 16949 quality management system.
