EHS Manager
Orion Engineered Carbons is accepting applications for the position of Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Manager at the company’s Orange, Texas plant. This position will provide leadership and strategic direction to achieve excellence in EHS performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate all key EHS programs at the site and ensure plant and applicable regional objectives are met.
- Influential leader of the site by promoting a strong safety culture supporting the goal of an injury-free workplace where employees take responsibility for their safety as well as that of others
- Prepare and submit all regulatory reports as required by the permit and regulations.
- Implement site audit program to promote frequent inspections by site management team to ensure compliance with housekeeping, safe work permitting, energy control (LOTO), job safety analysis, spill prevention, and other EHS items.
- Provide training on Environmental and Safety issues, maintain records, determine and obtain appropriate materials ensures plant uses training platforms
- Ensure EHS events are appropriately logged, recorded, and reported on EHS platform. Provide follow-up for EHS events to ensure that corrective actions are completed and are not reoccurring. Maintains EHS reporting platform for site
- Review and maintain site EHS documents and ensure that they are complete and follow federal regulations and corporate Orion policies
- Provide Incident investigation assistance for all accidents, and near misses. Ensure that the incident is appropriately recorded and reported to internal and external entities. Ensure that all corrective actions are completed and that the issue doesn’t reoccur.
- Conduct plant inspections, and housekeeping events and measures are being performed to help keep the site in compliance with legal requirements and corporate standards
- Review and maintain existing facility response plan, implement emergency response and management programs and procedures (security drills, inspections) to comply with coast guard regulations.
- Identifies site industrial hygiene monitoring needs (sound survey, fit testing, exposure monitoring, etc.) and works with the third-party contractors to complete the monitoring
- Serves as site liaison during regulatory inspections and provide proper guidance to site during the preparation of regulatory inspections
- Keep track of site EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and communicate them to corporate and senior management on monthly basis.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, industrial safety, environmental science, or related technical field required.
- At least five years of exempt-level environmental health and safety experience in an industrial setting is required
- Solid knowledge of OSHA standards (Safe Work Permits, Energy Control, Fall Protection, Personal Protective Equipment, and process safety management etc.), root cause analysis and incident investigation.
- General understanding of state and federal environmental regulations, continuous emissions monitoring systems, spill prevention control and counter measure, storm water pollution prevention, waste management, wastewater, and air compliance programs required.
