Accountant-Entry Level

Description: 

The accountant plays a key role in the preparation, analysis, reconciliation, and auditing of consolidated financial statements.  He or she ensures that activities required for compliance and reporting are performed accurately and on a timely basis.  A key focus of this position is to ensure that management has a clear picture of the financial performance of the company.  

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare top-side and consolidating journal entries, perform month-end closing processes and financial analysis, reconcile intercompany accounts, research historical balances, and perform ad hoc analyses.
  • Reconcile and analyze balance sheet account fluctuations to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and account balances are accurately stated in accordance with US GAAP and Company policy.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the regional accounting teams on top-side entries and intercompany mismatches.
  • Assist in completion of the consolidated cashflows, as well as various schedules, footnotes, SOX controls, and audit requests related to the Company’s SEC reporting.
  • Assist in completion, review, and tieouts for 10-Q/K and earnings release materials.
  • Collaborate with the finance team and members of other functions to drive continuous improvement and improve efficiency.

 

 

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is required for this position.
  • One to three years of generalist accounting experience are desired; some of this experience may have been acquired in positions such as accountant, cost accountant, tax analyst, financial analyst, auditor, intern, or similar role.
  • Experience at an audit firm, chemical or large Fortune 500 company is a strong plus. 
  • Knowledge of US GAAP that applies to primary duties of the position.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using terminology and content at a level that is appropriate for the recipients.
  • Advanced technology skills, including proficiency in Excel and other Office applications, are expected. Familiarity with SAP, BPC consolidations and Workiva are a strong plus.
