Payroll Manager/HRIS Administrator

 

The Payroll Manager/HR Generalist ensures employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with the regulatory requirements in multiple jurisdictions.   This role is the primary point of contact for all payroll-related matters.   The incumbent is also the backup for the HRIS administrator.  

Essential Duties:  

  • Manage bi-weekly payroll processing for a workforce of approximately 400 employees across 15 states. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and other regulatory requirements that pertain to payroll.  
  • Manage all payroll processes in Workforce Now.
  • Produce bi-weekly, quarterly and annual reports for accounting, internal and external auditors.
  • Resolve outstanding payroll processing issues in a timely manner, according to company policy and/or labor agreements.   
  • Assist with open enrollment for benefits and other processes that touch on payroll.  
  • Assist colleagues with other matters in HR as the need arises.  
     

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or accounting is strongly preferred; experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. 
  • At least five years of experience processing payroll for a manufacturing concern is required. Chemical industry or oil and gas experience is preferred.   Some of this experience may have been acquired in positions such as payroll manager, payroll administrator, payroll clerk, HR generalist, or similar roles.  
  • At least five years of experience of partnering with ADP is the most important qualification for this position.  This experience must be current and include mastery of the reporting and analytics function in Workforce Now.    
  • Expert knowledge of the FLSA, FMLA, and payroll laws in Texas, Louisiana and Ohio, or the ability to learn them in short order, is required.
  • Familiarity with Success Factors and/or another HRIS system is a strong plus.    
  • Experience processing payroll for sites at which a labor union is present is helpful.   
  • Knowledge of SOX, experience working with auditors, and ensuring regulatory compliance round out the qualifications required for success in this role.
