SALES MANAGER

Sales managers sell a variety of carbon blacks to tire customers and thereby drive the company's long-term profit and growth.  There is currently a large push for sustainable and renewable carbon blacks that offers the potential for considerable future growth.  This position will play a key role in Orion's efforts to capitalize on this trend.   

 

The Sales Manager for the tire market segment is responsible for maintaining and increasing sales to tire manufacturers in North America.  He or she is also expected to grow and diversify our tire producer customer mix in the future as well.   The incumbent must be based near a major hub airport, preferably in the southeast US.  The area around Houston would be propitious because of easy access to Orion's headquarters and support services in Spring, TX.   

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing customers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Regional Headquarters of Global Accounts.
  • Develop and implement strategies for sales of improved and sustainable/renewable products.
  • Match products to the needs of customers.
  • Answer inquiries from customers concerning products, their uses, and their availability.
  • Provide information, quotes, credit terms, bids, and other information to customers.
  • Negotiate prices, terms of sales, and/or service agreements; prepare contracts and follow up on complaints and payments as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the local Tire Plant locations across North America.  These relationships will foster communication about these location’s specific performance.

 

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required for this position; a degree in a technical discipline (such as chemistry or engineering) is strongly preferred.
  • At least three to five years of marketing and direct account sales experience is required; some of this experience must include profit and loss responsibility.
  • Experience selling to tiremakers and/or producers of mechanical rubber goods is preferred.
  • Background in manufacturing (especially carbon black or other rubber additives) is a significant advantage.  
  • The successful candidate must be results-driven with a proven track record of success managing large and/or key accounts.
  • Proficiency in the use of popular sales tools such as CRM and SFDC, and the ability to interpret market data and its impact on the bottom line required.
